Privacy Policy
Agent Redactor is published by Negative Star Innovators. We believe in privacy by design. Our desktop app is free, open-source software (MIT license), meaning its code is publicly auditable on GitHub. Both our software and website are built to collect as little data as possible.
1. The Short Version
- No Telemetry or Analytics: We do not track you, collect telemetry, or run analytics on the app or the website.
- 100% Local Processing: Your prompts, code, secrets, and API keys are processed and stored solely on your device. We never see them.
- Direct to your LLM: The app sends your redacted requests directly to the LLM provider you configure (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). We do not intercept this traffic.
2. The Agent Redactor App
Agent Redactor acts as a local proxy on your machine.
- Local Storage: Your API keys, custom redaction rules, settings, and logs are stored locally on your device. Keys are stored encrypted. You can delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing your local configuration folders. We have no access to this data.
- LLM Providers: When the app forwards your redacted requests to your chosen AI provider, that traffic is governed by that provider’s privacy policy.
- Network Requests to Us: The app only contacts our servers (via Cloudflare) for two reasons: to download the local detection AI model (once) and to check for app updates (direct-download builds only; Microsoft Store builds update through the Store). These are anonymous requests that contain no personal data.
- Microsoft Store: If you download the app via the Microsoft Store, Microsoft processes your download activity according to their Privacy Statement. We do not receive personal information about individual Store customers.
3. The Website
Our website (agentredactor.negativestarinnovators.com) is a static site.
- No Cookies, No Trackers, No Third-Party Content: This site is fully self-contained — we set no cookies, run no analytics, and even our fonts are self-hosted, so your browser never contacts a third-party service while you browse. The only thing ever stored is a single local preference if you dismiss our language banner, and it never leaves your device.
- Infrastructure: The site and our update servers are hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare automatically processes standard connection metadata (such as your IP address, user agent, and request time) at the infrastructure level to serve files securely. We do not use this data to identify you.
- Third Parties: Links to external sites (GitHub, the Microsoft Store, Buy Me a Coffee, our blog) are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.
4. Data We Do Not Collect
Because of how Agent Redactor is built, we do not collect:
- User accounts, names, or emails (unless you directly email us for support).
- Telemetry, crash dumps, or device identifiers.
- Your prompts, code, redaction rules, or LLM traffic.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is no personal data held by us for you to access, correct, export, or delete under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. You maintain full control over your data directly on your device.
If you email us for support, we will use your email address solely to respond to you.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy if our practices change (for example, if we introduce basic website analytics in the future). The current version will always be available on this page.
7. Contact
For privacy questions, concerns, or requests, please contact us at [email protected] or open an issue on our GitHub repository.
8. Translations
This policy is published in English only, so that the legally meaningful text is exact. When professionally translated versions become available, we will publish them and link them from this page.
